A young student, by name, Linus Torvalds, of the University of Helsinki, Finland, developed a fascination for Minix, a small Unix system and his fascination turned into an obsession for creating an operating system better than Minix. He succeeded in his efforts and brought out the first version of Linux Kernel in 1994, called version 1.0. Linux operating system culminated only on the basis of this Kernel.
